“We had a great team of volunteers for our first ever combo event at Buy-Low Foods in Osoyoos that included the OLWQS information table and BBQ hot dogs,” says the Society’s president, Birgit Arnstein.
“It was a terrific three-hour event where we got to meet grocery shoppers and introduce them about what we do as an organization to protect our lake and keep it beautiful. In the process, we acquired a new member, got to speak to 30 people, half of whom were unaware of what we did as an organization, and they took home reading literature about OLWQS.”
Part of the attraction was providing hungry shoppers with a quick meal at lunch time that included a hot dog & condiments, soft drink and a bag of chips for just $5.
Arnstein also noted that OLWQS couldn’t have done this event without the support of Taylor Towers, General Manager, Buy Low Foods, who provided the food, drink and condiments. Arnstein also had kudos for volunteer Jennifer Morton who came up with the idea for the event.
